The main character Carlos is forced to move from Mexico to Colorado. He lives with his brother Alex and goes to Flat Iron High School. He is given a tour guide and her name is Kiara. Carlos also goes to a party and girl named Madison gets him high. A few days later a security guard finds weed in Carlos's locker. Carlos claims it wasn't his (because it wasn't). Just like Perfect Chemistry, the story is told from Kiara's point of view also. Her best friend, Tuck, and her talk about her ex-boyfriend. They also develope the Rules of Attraction. Carlos must go to special meetings for his possesion. Tuck tries to be friends with Carlos but Carlos refuses. Mr. Westford, Kiara's dad, also has lots of rules Carlos has to follow. Carlos wants to be close with Kiara but he isn't sure. On family fun night, they all watch movies. Everyone goes to bed accept Kiara and Carlos. Carlos stopps Brandon from playing a cyber drug dealing game. Mr. Westford also finds Carlos' shirt where family fun night was. Carlos also agrees to take Kiara to homecoming for her first time. However, Carlos meets with a gang member named Devlin. He warns that if Carlos doens't do a drug deal that his family will get hurt. Carlos punches him and ends up getting beat up. carlos takes Kiara to homecoming and they go to Ram's cabin. There they sleep together. The next morning, Carlos tells Kiara her loves her and wnats to be with her. He goes to Alex's house and sleeps there. Alex takes him to Mr. Westford who used to be an agent but still is. He makes a deal with Devlin. He makes and ambush and they go to meet Devlin.
