Der logische Aufbau der Welt
The German philosopher Rudolf Carnap attended the Universities of Jena and Freiburg im Breisgau where he studied physics, mathematics, and philosophy. This video gives a relativley good backround of Carnup and discusses his views if you have the patience to watch it. The Der logische Aufbau der Welt was a version of the empiricist reducibility thesis. This describes the idea of a bodies or things being collections of atoms. Youtube -
Abriss der Logistik (1910-1929)
After serving WW1 carnap completed his doctorate in 1921. Afterward Carnap conducted private research concerning logic and wrote the textbook Abriss Der Logistik which concerned formal logic. -
Erkenntnis (1930)
Carnap had many associates, as many philosophers do, one in particular being Hans Reichenbach the renown scientific philosopher. Reichenbach helped Carnap form the Erkenntnis, a journal of philosophy that published papers. In 1939 the journal shut down and later reestablished in 1975. -
The older life of Carnap (1945-1970)
Carnup in the mid to late 40's decided to focus pretty seriously on inductive reasoning and rational belief and decision. In his 1950 work Logical Foundations of Probability he would go further into the topic of the above. After 1950 Carnup time at the institute for advanced study in Princeton, New Jersey. He accepted a job to be a professor at the University of California and would impact young people and continue his work on probability theory until his death in 1970.
