    Opus Maius

    This work offers “a structural critique of scholastic practice in the universities” (Hackett) and discusses things such as his interpretations and philosophical ideas of humans in this world and in the next within this work. It is broken up into seven parts.

    University teacher

    He accepted an invitation to teach at the University of Paris. While there, he lectured on Latin grammar, Aristotelian logic, arithmetic, geometry, and the mathematical aspects of astronomy and music.His faculty colleagues included Robert Kilwardby, Albertus Magnus, and Peter of Spain, the future Pope John XXI. The Cornishman Richard Rufus was a scholarly opponent.

    Bypassing Order's decree

    Bacon contacted Cardinal Guy le Gros de Fouiques, who became Pope Clement lV. The Pope issued a papal mandate asking Bacon for his philosophical writings and his view on the possibility of philosophy in theology.

    Roger Bacon passed away in 1292. Many books have been written about him including "Doctor Mirabilis", "The Face in the Frost", "Fifth Business" and "The Black Rose".
