    Babrak Karmel is chosen as a new leader supported by Soviet troops.Many mujahideen groups were fighting Soviet troops. The US, China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia supplied money and weapons to the mujahideen.

    The Soviets sign a peace treaty with the US and Afghanistan. They begin pulling out in 1988. Civil War begins as with mujahideen trying to over throw Najibullah.

    Taliban seizes control over Kabul. They introduce a new sticter version of Islam. This new version bans women from work, punishments (stoming to death and amputations).

    Osama Bin Laden is accused of bombing US embassies in Africa. The US starts to launch missiles in ares that are believe to be his bases. The UN forces embargos and sanctions to force Bin Laden out of hiding.

    Ahmad Shah Masood, leader of the main force against the Taliban, is assassinated.The US leads invasion of Aghanistan after the Twin Tower attacks. Anti-Taliban North Alliance Force joins later.

    President Karzai takes a trip to Russia, first time an Afghan has visited since the end of the Cold War invasion.Civilians casualties are at record high is broken in February.58 people are killed at a Shia shrine in Kabul and Shia mosque.

    NATO promises to withdraw all troops by 2014.Tokyo donor promises 16 billion dollar donation to civilian aid in Afghanistan up to 2016.President Karzai and Pakistan's Asif Ali Zadari agree to peace deals within six months after meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron.
