Robespierre recieves his law degree
Robespierre after studying law for several years, he graduated from the Lycee Louis-de-grand and recieved his law degree. He practiced law in Arras, which supplied him with a decent amount of income. -
Robespierre becomes the leader of the jacobins
In April of 1790, Robespierre was elected president of the Jacobins, a group of revolutionaries who were known for having some of the most infamous revolutionaries such as napoleon, George Danton, and more. The Jacobins were one of the main causes of the revolution's success. -
Robespierre becomes the leader of the montagnards
Along with the Jacobins, Robespierre also lead the Montagnards. The Montagnards were one of the most radical groups of the national convention. during a debate, Robespierre and the Montagnards voted for Louis's execution and attacked moderate policies. -
The Reign of Terror begins
Riots started popping up more and more across France and Robespierre wasn't having it. As the head of the committee of public safety, he could execute anyone he considered a suspect. -
Robespierre abuses his power
Robespierre was starting to use his power for his gain. He started executing anyone who opposes him. Anyone who even slightly criticized the revolution or his actions could be sent to the guillotine. He was almost in full control of the revolution and France. -
Robespierre lashes out
During a session of the convention, violence broke out as Robespierre angerly tried to regain power. He celled anyone who opposes him "scoundrels". People started shouting at him "Down with the tyrant" and the convention ordered his arrest. While resisting arrest, Robespierre was shot, but not killed. -
Robespierre is executed
After resisting arrest, Robespierre was sent to the guillotine, and just like that, the Reign of Terror was over, with the cause of the terror, to be its last victim.
