RLS later writes about the journey to California in The Amateur Emigrant (1895). The first part of The Amateur Emigrant was ready to be published but was withdrawn in 1880. The Novels
Robert Louis Stevenson wrote at least fourteen novels in those, Dr. Jekle and Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekle and Mr. Hyde is an exciting mystery about a mad man eager to show it's darker half. -
Death of a Child
Robert and his wife Fanny conceived a boy, Thomas Stevenson who was a pioneering Scottish lighthouse designer. Thomas died May 8th resulting in Louis, Fanny, Lloyd, and Margret Stevenson to sail for New York, spending the winter in Saranac Lake on August 22nd. -

After awhile the Robert and his family charter the schooner Casco (ship/boat) sailing out of San Francisco Bay to the South Seas. -
