•January 19, 1807 robert edward lee was born. In 1829 he was graduated second in his class at West Point without having incurred a single demerit in his four years there -
Captain
• Commissioned in the corps of engineers, served as a captain under General Winfield Scott -
Battle of veracruz
• He emerged as a leader in the battle of Veracruz, Churubusco
• General Scott said, “That he was the best soldier he ever saw in the field”.
It occurred from 27 November 1838 to 5 December 1838 -
Harpery Fairry
• Robert was placed in command when john browns rage in harpers fairy went down.

Put in charge.
• On April 20, 1861 the civil war broke out, and was commanded to be leader of the naval forces in the war.
• May 14, 1861 Lee on the confederate side was appointed in full command for entire war -
First battle
• On his first battle he tried to hold back union forces but was too much for the confederate side. He soon traveled back to Richmond Virginia where he regrouped a discussed plans with Thomas “stonewall” Jackson. -
Bull run
• Robert E Lee beat General McClellan in the seven days of all the battles.
• On August 29-30 Lee and his soldiers defeated the union in the battle at bull run (Manassas) -
Gettysburg
• Again invading the north he lost another battle at Gettysburg, the bloodiest battle in all of the civil war.
• After losing Most of the wars the confederates lost the civil war and leaving lee not in charge. July 1–3, 1863, -
Antietam
• On September 17 the union defeated the confederate in the battle of Antietam -
Died
• Lee soon died in his home of throat cancer and was buried in the west point cemetery.
