    The Rise of Hitler
    Hitler was very smart when climbing his way to power. Anlong with the Nazi party, Hitler rose to power fairly quick. In 1924 he got out of prison after being in for 8 months, and about 9 years later he was the dicator of Germany; promising to lead Germany back into glory.

    Czechoslovakia Crisis
    This crisis started when Hitler demanded self-determination for all Germans in Austria and Czechoslovakia. The Sudeten Nazi Party wanted union Germany and began to riot. This riot caused so much havoc, the Czechs sent in their army.

    Violation of the Munich Pact
    An agreement was acheived between Italy, Germany, Britain, and France, but Czechoslovakia was not allowed to attend the Munich Conference. But soon after the agreement was signed, Hitler broke it and took over Czechoslovakia.

    Germany invaded Poland, and within weeks of the invasion, Poland was under German control. The Soviets had also invaded eastern Poland on September 17th. The seperation line was along the Bug River.

    Not even a year after the invasion of Poland, Germany invaded Poland. By June 25 Germany was in control of France. During this time, the British strongly encouraged France to resist Germany at all costs.

    This was a war between the German Airforce and the Royal Airforce. This was the first battle in history to be entirley fought by air attacks. Hitler hoped to win this battle and soon after, invade Britain.

    Invasion of the Soviet Union
    Also called operation Barbosa, Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union was the largest military operation of WWII. The goal was not only to gain territory, but to get rid of the threat of communism to the Nazi party. This invasion went completely against the German-Soviet nonagression pact, which to Hitler had always been a temporary thing only to gain an upper hand.

    Pearl Harbor
    Hundreds of Japenese fighter planes attacked the American Naval base at Pearl Harbor. It went on for about two hours, and left devasting results. 20 ships were destroyed, over 2,000 lives were lost, and 1,000 were injured.

    This WWII naval battle was fought between Japan and the U.S.
    Japan's goal was to defeat the US Pacific Fleet, and use Midway as a base to attack Pearl Harbor. In the end this was a major loss for Japan, leaving them on the defensive.

    The Battle of Normandy, codenamed Operation Overlord, was the liberation of West Europe from the Nazi German forces. American, British, and Canadian forces landed on a long coast in Normandy fortified by the Nazi Germans, and defeated them.

    This was the last and the largest battle in the Pacific Islands. It was the U.S. and partially Britain versus the Japenese. The whole purpose was that the Americans wanted to capture an Island near Japan to serve as a base for their air operations. It was a success for the U.S. because it gave them airspace about 350 miles from Japan.

    The Americans dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, a city in Japan. The bomb destroy about 90% of the city over 80,000 people and, many more died from the radiation.
