Period: to
Enlightenment
The Enlightenment Period was a cultural movement which started first in Europe and was later in the American Colonies. They used reason and ideas from faith and tradition to better the society, The major Enlightenment Philosophers of the 16 and 17 hundreds are Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Jean Jaques Rousseau and Baron de Montesquieu. I would rate this as a 4 because the ideas had caused the revolution to start but there are other factors more important which led to the start of the Revolution. -
Period: to
The French and Indian War
This was a War between England and the American colonists who fought the French in America. This war is also called the seven year war and at the end of the war the English won. The war ended with the Proclamation of 1763 and beacause of the war England was in a huge debt. The only way they could pay of the debt is if they started taxing the colonists. I think i would rate this a 5 because of the decision, conflicts between the Colonies and English started which led into the Revolution. -

The Proclamation Line of 1763 was made at the end of the French and Indian War. It stated that the colonists were fobidden to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The colonists ignored that and did what they were told not to. Due to that the Colonists started getting taxed. I would rate this a 5 beacuse it started the conflicts between England and the Colonists. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act
The stamp act was when England started taxing the colonists on all printed documents. All documents had to have a stamp. The colonists didn't think it was fair and responded by boycotting all the English goods. This forced the English to repeal and led to the Boston Massacre. I would rate this a 4 because it caused conflict but wasnt a main reason which started the Revolution. -
Boston Massacre
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre is what happened due to the decision of the English to tax the colonists on all the documents. The Boston Massacre is when the colonists fought with the British Troops in Boston and 5 colonists were killed. It was called a massacre because of the propaganda at that time. I would rate this event a 6 because they started fighting which leds into the American Revolution later on. -
Tea Act
Tea Act
Not only did the English tax the colonists on Stamps and all their documents but when that didn't work they started to tax the Colonists on Tea as well. The tea act of 1773 was a new tax started on tea. Each time the Colonists bought or drank tea from England they would have to pay them. I would rate this event as a 4 because it caused problems between the 2 sides but not to trigger the Revolution. -

Boston Tea Party The Boston Tea Party was the result of the Tea Tax the British put on the Colonists. A group of men called the Sons of Liberty protested and dumped all the tea into the Boston Harbor. They dressed as Native Indians because they didn't want to be taxed. I would rate it a 4 because it did cause conflict but not the Revolution. -
Intolerable Acts
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts was the British responding to the Boston Tea Party. They were mad and created 3 new acts as a punishment. The 1. No trial by jury, 2. colonists forced to house soldiers and 3. no ships allowed to enter/leave British Harbor. English wanted the colonists to listen to only them as do as they say. I would rate this a 7 because this caused a lot of conflict between the two. -
First Continental Congress
First Continental Congress
The First continental Congress met in 1774, representatvies from 12 colonies met in Philadelphia. They met to talk about the intolerable acts and sent a letter to King George III to fix it but he ignored them. I would rate this event a 6, this started conflicts between King and the Colonists which causes wars and later the Revolution. -
Lexington and Concord
Lexington and Concord
The Battle of Lexington and Concord is the response to the First Continental congress. The battles were between British troops and the colonists, the British were victorious. I would rate this a 6 because this kicks of the Revolution because it makes the colonists do a second Congress meeting. -
Second Contential Congress
Second Continental Congress The Second Contential Congress is met in 1776 to talk about the battles that have happened. This is when they start to think and discuss about becoming independence. They support this and form a committee to write the declaration. I would rate this 8 because this kicks off the Revolution. The colonies decision makes England mad and starts the war. -
The Declaration of Independence
Declaration of Independence Tomas Jefferson takes the lead to write the Declaration of Indpendence. He uses the ideas Locke and Rousseau has and incorporates them into the Declaration. The Declarations main purpose is to give every citizen in The United States to become independent. I think I would rate this event as a 8 because this Declaration is what led America and Britain to start the Revolution.
