    To pay for war dep[t from the French and Indian war, England passed the Stamp Act. Which means stamps had been placed on money.

    Colonist were to provide food and shelter to British soldiers who were there to provide saftey to the colonies. The colonist said that the British troops were there to keep an eye on them.

    This placed tax on many things like paper, led, glass, paint, and tea.Colonist oginianized boycotts and increased smuggling of goods. No taxation without representation.
  • Boston Massacre 1770

    England sent 4000 red coats to Boston, this angered the colonist.They thought that England would try to take away their freedom and tax them even more. March 5, 11770 the colonist gathered around the small group of red coats.
  • Tea Act of 1773

    England said only the East India company could sell tea to the colonist.Tea would be sold for much cheaper than the price the colonist sold it for. The colonist did not like it because it would drive the merchants out of buisness.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonist refused to buy tea from England. When the tea arrived in Boston, they ordered for it to be sent back but the governor refused.

    Colonist dressed up as Indians, boarded the ships and dumped 342 chest of tea into Boston Harbor. England was furious and king closed the harbor until the tea was paid for.

    56 delagates met in Philadelphia to discuss what to do. They decided they should get a militia together and begin training.They also sent letter to King George asking to open harbor and repeal acts.The king rejeted.
