The Navigation Acts
The laws forced colonists to sell their raw materials to England even if they could get better prices elsewhere. Goods bought by the colonies from other European countries had to go through England first and be taxed. -
Molasses Act
A British law passed in 1733 that taxed molasses, rum, and sugar imported into the North American colonies from non-British countries. -
Fort Necessity
George Washington built a fort so he could hopefully scare away the French. But Washington's fort soon came under attack by the French. French allies (the Natives) combined armies and took down fort necessity. -
French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was a war that happened in the New World against the colonies and the French/Native Americans. -
Sugar Act
The idea is to lower the price of sugar so more people would buy it. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was the act that taxed everything that was printed. They did this so that England could hopefully get close to paying off the war debt. -
Declaratory Acts
It's an act saying how Parliament can tax the colonies and that they will tax them and they can't do anything about it. -
Townshend
The Townshend Act is where Parliament taxed paper, lead, paint, glass, and tea. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was when there were kids throwing snowballs, ice balls, shells, and rocks at the British guards that were in Boston at the time because the people of Boston didn't like that Britain was taxing them without their permission. And one of the guards called for back up and he tripped, fired his musket, and started a fight. -
Intolerable Act
A bunch of Acts/Laws that made living in the colonies really bad -
Quartering Act
Permitted the requisition of unoccupied buildings at first, to house British troops -
Administration of Justice
British officials charged with a capital offense had to be tried in another colony or England. -
Quebec Act
n Act of the Parliament of Great Britain which set procedures of governance in the Province of Quebec. -
Fort Ticonderoga
Fort Ticonderoga was the first offensive victory for American forces in the Revolutionary War. -
Second Continental Congress
The second Continental Congress established a Continental Army and elected George Washington as Commander-in-Chief. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The battle of Bunker Hill was a battle between the patriots and the redcoats and although the American patriots were defeated at the Battle of Bunker Hill, they proved they could hold their own against the superior British Army.
