    Navigation Acts
    The Navigation Acts are put in place so the colonists have to trade their raw materials with England. The colonists liked this at first but then the colonies got bigger and they wanted to make their own goods so they start to smuggle items.

    British law that taxed molasses, rum and sugar imported to the colonies.

    Fort Necessity
    George Washington led a militia to drive out the French but they needed a fort so they quickly scrapped together Fort Necessity. George Washington and his militia lost this fight.

    French and Indian War
    The French had George Washington sign a contract he couldn't understand saying that he killed the French general which would lead to the French and Indian war so the colonists tried to ask the Native Americans to be on their side but they said they would be neutral. So the colonists stuck into French forces doing all types of strategies to win. The British helped the colonists by winning the war in the water after outspending the French.

    The British started lowing the prices of the molasses so it would be cheaper than the smugglers molasses trying to stop smuggling.

    Britain added a tax on all paper including newspapers, playing cards, wills.

    Boston Massacre
    A crowd of colonists started throwing items at the royal guards and one got hit with a club leading him to fall and fire his gun by accident which lead to them all firing their weapons on a crowd of colonists.

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The colonists were badly outnumbered, and the Minutemen were about to break. An unknown shot was fired, and both sides engaged after, 8 Minutemen were dead.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Fort Ticonderoga
    The Green Mountain Boys were planning to attack Ticonderoga and after agreeing to work together, Fort Ticonderoga surrendered.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    The Second Continental Congress met and had some new members added and Ben Franklin made the first post office. The Second Continental Congress was a rebel group fighting against the British.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The militia set up posts on Bunker Hill and Breed’s Hill. After seeing this and forming a plan, the British attacked the next day Redcoats assembled at the foot of Breed’s Hill and charged the hill. Colonel William Prescott gave the order, “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes”. The British troops were successfully repelled two times by this battle plan.
    Americans were low on gunpowder to start the battle with, so they had to retreat once they ran out of powder.

    The Olive Branch Petition assured King George 3 that the colonists wanted peace and asked to protect their rights. The King rejected the petition, and prepared for war.

    Benedict Arnold failed to take Quebec
    December 31, 1775, Colonel Benedict Arnold and General Richard Montgomery attempt to capture the city of Quebec while it's dark and snowing. They fail and Montgomery is dead.

  • Washington takes Boston

    Washington takes Boston
    The night of March 17, 1776, Washington had his cannons into positions overlooking Boston, While the redcoats were all tucked in As the British awoke to find almost 60 cannons pointing at them, and realizing that the cannon could reach them, British General William Howe commanded his soldiers to board ships and withdraw to Nova Scotia.

    The Hessian Soldiers were German soldiers that were hired by King George III to fight against the colonists. King George hired around 30,000 Hessian Soldiers.
  • The Declaration of Independance is signed

    The Declaration of Independance is signed
    Delegates signed the Declaration of Independence, a declaration stating they want independence from England, John Handcock wrote his name so large, so that the king could read his name without glasses. We see these men as founding fathers, but England saw these 56 men as traitors to the crown. If they were caught, they would have been hung.
