    All colonies but Georgia have representatives. Voted to send a statement of grievances. Voted to boycott all British trade.
  • 1,000's of Redcoats in Boston

    General Gage brings thousands of British soldiers to Boston with more on the way
  • Midnight Ride of Paul Revere

    Paul Revere rides to warn the Sons of Liberty in Lexington and Concord that the British were coming.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington. First American battle. The shot heard around the world. British won Lexington. Battle of Concord, Americans Stop British and force them to retreat back to Boston.
  • Capture of Fort Ticonderoga

    Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen capture the fort. Gets all of the supplies from the fort including cannons, American victory.
  • Second Continental Congress meet

    Formed the Continental army led by George Washington, Made their own money. Set up a post office. Sent a olive branch Petition. The king denied the petition and collected German troops to fight them.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Fought on Breed's hill
    Only Shot when they saw them well.
    British victory but lost 1,000 troops.
  • Washington arrives on outskirts of Boston with Continental troops

    Realizes men are disorganized and need discipline. Lacks cannons and artillery. Asks for cannons. Cannons came from fort Ticonderoga pulled by oxen.
  • Common Sense published by Thomas Paine

    pamphlet inspires more colonists to become patriots.

  • British Surrender Boston

    Washington believes his army is ready and sets up cannons, The British see the cannons and leave Boston. American victory
  • Second Continental Congress meet again

    Debate on declaring independence. Thomas Jefferson is the primary author of the document.
  • Second Continental Congress votes for Independence.

    All 13 voted yes on declaring Independence .
  • The Declaration of Independence is signed.
