A soldier strikes a colonist so a crowd gathers and hassles that soldier. They threw snowballs and yelled out insults. More people get there and all of the colonists get more angry. This is known as the Boston Massacre. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act sparked the final part to the revolutionary movement in Boston. -
Boston Tea Party
The members of the Sons of Liberty dumped over 340 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. This caused problems for the loyalists. (a person stays "loyal" to the King and Great Britain. -

Intolerable acts was the first of the coercive acts. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering Act was passed as a part of the Coercive Acts in the wake of the Boston Tea Party. -
First Continental Congress
A meeting of delegates from the 12 of 13 colonies that met to take care of intolerable acts. The only colony that did not send a representative was Georgia. They first agreed to boycott but then parliament did not agree. -
First Continental Congress Meets
Every colony besides Georgia has representatives. Georgia voted to send a "Statement of grievances". -

General Gage brings thousands of the British soldiers to Boston and he has more coming. -

In Lexington and Concord, Paul Revere rides to tell the Sons of Liberty that "the British are coming" -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
The battle of Lexington was the 1st of the American Revolutionary War. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "shot heard round the world". British won. The battle of Concord: The Americans stopped the British and forced them to go back to Boston. American won. -
Capture of Fort Ticonderoga
Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen captured the fort. They gathered all the supplies including cannons. American got victory. -
Second Continental Congress Meets
In the meeting, the delegates included the greatest leaders in the colonies. Some of these men were John and Sam Adams, Patrick Henry Lee, and George Washington. A continental army was led by George Washington. An olive branch was sent to the king to assure that they wanted peace. The king hires 30,000 Hessian Soldiers as a response. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
They fought on Breed's Hill. William Prescott said, "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes." The Americans ran out of ammunition so the British won. The British learned that fighting the Americans would not be easy. -
Washington arrives on outskirts of Boston with continental troops
They realize the men are disorganized and need to be disciplined. They need weapons. -
"Common Sense" published by Thomas Paine
Pamphlet inspires more colonists to become patriots. Thomas Paine said, "Every thing that is right or reasonable pleads for separation. The blood of the slain, the weeping voice of nature cries, 'TIS TIME TO PART". -
British Surrender Boston
George Washington believes his army is ready and weapons arrive. Washington puts the cannons on Dorchester Heights overlooking Boston. The British retreat and American gets victory. -
Second Continental Congress Meets Again
They are debating on declaring independence. Thomas Jefferson is the primary author of the document. -
Second Continental Congress Votes for Independence
All 13 colonies vote YES on getting independence. -
