The Congress selected George Washington to lead the improvised army besieging Boston. His election was largely political. -

The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought in Bunker Hill in Charlestown, Massachusetts. In the battle of Bunker Hill the British defeated the colonial forces. -

The Declaration of Independence was a document that separated the 13 North American British colonies from Great Britain. It was written by Thomas Jefferson. -
Battle of Saratoga
In 1777 Americans won the battle of Saratoga against Burgoyne. There were two crucial battles during this and they were fought eighteen days apart. This was a good turning point for the Congenital Army but not for the Revolutionary War. -
Battle of Trenton
General George Washington was crossing the icy Delaware. In the span of the next 10 days won two major battles. On December 26th Washington and his army defeated formidable garrison of Hessian mercenaries before withdrawing.
