    - Came for religious freedom, but banished anyone who didn't agree with their religious views.
    - NOT Tolerant

    • Came Because They Were Being Persecuted Because of Their Religious Beliefs.
    • Settled in Maryland
    • EXTREMELY Tolerant
  • Dissent in Massachusetts Bay

    • 1637
    • If you didn’t believe what the Puritans said, they would banish you from Massachusetts.
    • Anne Hutchinson Roger Williams were banished
    • Anne was banned because she questioned church leaders.
  • More Dissent in Massachusetts Bay

    Roger Williams gets banished because he believes in separation of church and state.
    Roger Williams founded Rhode Island

    • VERY Tolerant
    • Believed in Equality Between Everyone, Including Women and People of Different Races
    • Led by Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson
