  • First Continental Congress meets

    First Continental Congress meets
    All colonies but Georgia have representatives. Voted to send a "statement of grievances". Voted to Boycott all British Trade. Patrick Henry - VA rep. urged colonists to unite against Britain.
  • Britain Sending Troops

    Britain Sending Troops
    This was the first installment of Britain troops. And this was because King George was sensing that the colonies were in a state of rebellion. And that they needed to fight over who would have control over America.
  • The First Sight

    The First Sight
    This was when the British were first spotted on the move. They were moving towards Lexington. And so they sent Revere rode to Lexington to inform everyone that the British were on their way. And this was at night time.
  • The Battle of Lexington

    The Battle of Lexington
    This was the starting point for the American War of Independence. This was the first of many wars in this timeline. And one shot started the battle with the minutemen severely outnumbered. The British won the battle at Lexington. And then they continued on to Concord
  • The Battle at Concord

    The Battle at Concord
    This was the same day as the Lexington battle, but here the British took heavy loss. So they retreated back towards Boston. And on their way back from Concord colonists hid behind trees and fired on the British. And by the time they made it back to Boston 174 were wounded and 73 were dead.
  • The Fight for Fort Ticonderoga

    The Fight for Fort Ticonderoga
    This started because Benedict Arnold caught wind of what had happened at Lexington and Concord. So he raised a militia of 400 to seize Fort Ticonderoga. And he teamed up with the Green Mountain Boys to take it. And this was successful and Fort Ticonderoga surrendered on May 10, 1775

    Benedict Arnold was the one who lead the victory of Fort Ticonderoga. But later he was found selling the military information to the British army.
  • The Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress
    In 1774 they all decided to meet up again if the British did not address their complaints. But after the battles of Lexington and Concord showed the battles had worsened. And the second meeting included John and Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, Richard Henry Lee, and George Washington.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    This battle followed the battle of Lexington and Concord. A militia started to form around Boston and was about 20,000 strong. Soon the redcoats showed up with their bayonets drawn. But with the Americans being low on ammunition they had to wait until they could see their eyes clearly. And they fired making them retreat.

    More Wars Start to Break Out
    Congress learned that the British troops in Canada were planning to invade New York. So the Americans decided that they would start the attack first. And with Americans lack of training made it harder to strike back.

    On January 1776 Thomas Pain published a pamphlet called Common Sense. And this listed powerful reason why Americans would be better off free from Great Britain. And this helped influence the colonists opinions.

    This was a debate on whether or not they should declare themselves independent or stay under British rule.

    Lee's Resolution for Independence
    This basically states that people are born with certain natural rights to life, liberty, and property.

    The Declaration of Independence
    This document declared that America was independent. And this made them out of Britain's control and made them completely solo.
