The Plebeians made a big amount of protest to have more rights. This was because the Patricians always modified laws to favor them. The Patricians agreed and wrote laws on stone tablets called the Twelve Tables. -

Plebieans Get More Rights
In 287 BCE the Plebeians gained the right to pass laws. Now, assemblies of all Roman citizens could approve or reject laws. These plebeian assemblies also nominated the consuls.
