    The treaty of Versailles is a peace treaty created to end world war 1. The treaty explained the restrictions put on Germany for being responsible for the war. This potentially led to economic and political crises, which caused the rise of Hitler. The significance was that it was partially responsible for WWII and Germany.
  • Mussolini becomes fascist leader of Italy

    Mussolini becomes fascist leader of Italy
    Mussolini was an Italian nationalist who created fascism. He ruled from 1922-1925. He led a group of fascist leaders to Rome, forcing the king to yield government. He was appointed prime minister but completely dismantled the democratic government. He claimed himself as the dictator, ( II Duce). This was significant because Mussolini pioneered a lot of the tactics for absolute dictatorship and was a huge inspiration for Hitler.

     Mein Kampf  is published
    The Mein Kampf was a book Hitler wrote while in prison. In the book, he talked about his time as a soldier in WW1, his ideology, his undying hatred for Jews, and his youth as well. In the book, he explained how we deserve to have extreme rights over Germany, and how angry he was over the Treaty of Versailles. The Mein Kampf is significant to WWI because it hinted at the main components of Hitler's ambition to start WWII and the holocaust.

    This is when Hitler became the leader of Germany. This serves as the pinpoint to when Hitler rose to the ultimate power in Germany. This is the start of all the following cruel invents like WWII and the holocaust.

    This was the night that Hitler sent out several murderers to murder all of his public enemies. This helped him gain even more power. This was a significant turning point for the Germany government as Hitler was establishing his power.

    Italy's invasion of Ethiopia paved the way for WWII. This was used to gain control over more land, as well as assert Italy's power. The Italians however were not successful and were taken over by the Ethiopian forces.

    Japan Invades China
    Japan decided to invade China. They were trying to gain raw materials to fuel the growing industries. This caused around 20 million people to die. This caused high tensions during WWI, initially making it worse.
  • Japanese Rape of Nanjing

    Japanese Rape of Nanjing
    Over the course of 6 weeks, japan invaded China, brutally murdering the Chinese people. In the china city, Nanjing there were countless war crimes. Over 20,000 girls and women were sexually assaulted. They murdered many and left the city in pieces. This was a huge historical event, and definitely helped cause tension between japan and china, which still lasts to this day.

    The Pact of Steel was an alliance created between Mussolini(Italy) and Hitler (Germany). This alliance allowed for military cooperation and mutual defensive support. This allowed both countries to be at their aid when in war.

    Germany invades Poland, beginning World War II
    The Germans invaded Poland because they believed that they were inferior to the Germans and they wanted to live there. This invasion was considered pretty brutal with 14,000 dead. This potentially led Great Britain and France to declare war on China.

     Germany, Italy, and Japan sign the Tripartite Pact
    This was an alliance between Germany, Italy, and Japan. It was to protect each other's countries and to hopefully prevent the U.S. from getting involved with the war. If the U.S. got involved it lead a great impact on the military.
