    Initially triggered by the conflict between China and Japan over Korea (the Japanese government recquiring the iron and coal available in Korea for their expansionist aims,), after having broken the Li-Ito Convention Japan and Chine entered a war which eventually resulted in the Japanese occupation within manchurai and the Shangdon province
  • The Anglo-Japanese alliance

    The Anglo-Japanese alliance
    Rooting from the Fear of Russian occupation wtihin Russia and Britain's interest within the Chinese market, Japan and Britain signed an allience stating that if one of the members of the allience were to be involved in a war, the corresponding member would remain neutral. However, it also stated that if a member were affronted by two or more opponents, the ally would aid the other ally; therefore Japan was protected from the rivaling explansionist aims of France, Germany and Russia.

    after the Korea-Japan convention of 1905, the annexation treaty shifterd the sovergnty of Korea from the Korean emperor to the Japanese emperor, establishing Korea as a formal colony of Japan.

    Formally ending the Treaty of Portsmouth, The battle between Russia and Japan orignated from the conflict over Macnhuria, eventually leading to negotiations with President Roosevelt in splitting the countyr in South and North, Japan recieveing South Korea (including port Arthur).

    Japan seized the Northern Chinese province of Shandong , as well as other German colonial areas across the pacific (the Mariana, Caroline etc), demosntrating the outer limit of Japanes occupation before world war two and showing Japanese hislitiy to major European powers

    the largest naval powers gathered together for talks of reducing naval power in the far east. It included the Five-Power treaty, created as a means of naval disarmament in keeping a country within the conference to a set ratio, the Four-Power treaty which was mainly a consulatory treaty in the case of one coutnry being attacked and the nine-power treaty which concerned US relations within China.

    was a method in which the Japanese imperial family managed to take action against growing left wing ideals, by explicity forbiding conspiracies or revulst against the Japanese 'national essence' (Kokutai) and other popular ideologies within Japan (communism, socialism etc).
