Treaty of Versailles Signed
Germany was severely punished by the Treaty of Versailles and not allowed to argue in their own defense.
Italy was not granted all the land they were promised.
Japan was not granted much land, treated as inferior because of their race.
The USSR was not invited, did not regain land taken from Germany. -
Stalin and the Farmers
Stalin started a series of five-year plans which was meant to transform the Soviet Union from a low class society into an industrial superpower. His plan was focused on government control of the economy and the forced collectivization of Soviet agriculture, which the government took control of farms. Seeing this the farmers refused and were punished either by firing line or exiled. -
Mussolini's March to Rome
Mussolini led his supporters (militant Black Shirts) on a march to Rome to seize power. King Victor Emmanuel III was intimidated by this display and declared Mussolini Prime Minister two days later. -
Mussolini and Hitler Meet
Hitler and Mussolini meet in Italy for the first time. Mussolini is more powerful in his own country at this time. Hitler looks up to Mussolini as a role model. -
Germany Invades Poland
With Hitler's invasion of Poland, World War II officially begins.
USSR will join Hitler soon after. -
