    Had an enormous influence on Christianity.
    Spread the word of Jesus all over the Mediterranean area.
    Turned a small religion into something that over 2 billion people worship today.
    Died in 62-64 ce

    Great Fire of Rome

    Great Fire of Rome
    The fire started in the Circus Maximus and was extinguished in 6 days. 10 of Romes 14 districts were burned when the fire was extinguished. Rome's emperor at the time, Nero was blamed for the fire so he could bypass the senate and rebuild Rome as he wanted it. The fire destroyed more than 60,000 buildings. Surprisingly, there are only 6 verified deaths. Ended July 23, 64 AD.

    As many as 3,000 - 3,500 Christians were killed.
    Emperors responsible: Diocletian, Maximian, Galerius, and Constantius.
    Christians were demanded to follow traditional Roman religion.
    Some Christians were torn apart by dogs while others were set on fire as human torches.
    Many Christians were persecuted because they wouldn't worship the Emperor or the gods that other Romans worshiped.

    Last emperor to rule both the east and west sides of Rome.
    Completely prohibited paganism.
    Abolished the Olympics while prohibiting paganism because they were founded in Olympia, where Zeus was worshiped.
    Died on January 17, 395 AD
