The Treaty of Versailles was a peace document signed at the end of WW1. The main four Allied powers developed it (France, Italy, England, and the U.S.) The goal of the treaty was to punish Germany for starting the War. The Treaty was significant to the empowerment of Germany to get revenge and make Germany better. -
Mussolini becomes fascist leader of Italy
Benito Mussolini was an Italian nationalist who founded Italian fascism. Mussolini was a very empowering leader. He wanted to unite the people to overcome the postwar. This is significant to help the empowerment of Italy. -
Mein Kampf is published
Hitler published the book Mein Kampf which means "My Struggle." Hitler wrote the book while in jail talking about his plans for Germany. He believed that all of Germany's problems were caused by Jews. His plan was for Germans to rule the world. This was significant to Hitler's rise to power to give him a plan to start the rise of Nazi's. -
Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany
Hitler became Chancellor after the death of the German President. Hitler used this title to begin his reign of power. This starts the rise of the Nazi Power. -
"Knight of the Long Knives" Hitler consolidates power
The Knight of the Long Knives was a turning point in the German government. Nazi leaders were led by Hitler to kill people that Hitler believed were a threat to him. This was significant to the German empowerment because it made gave Hitler supreme administrator of the German people. -
Italy invades Ethiopia
Italy invades Ethiopia to boost Italian national prestige. Italy won which resulted in Ethiopia's subjection to Italian rule. The significance to this event was it started WW2. -
Japan invades China
Japan invades China to seek raw materials and to grow their industries. In 1937 Japan controlled sections of China which led to the rise of Japan and more casualties. -
Japanese Rape of Nanjing
Japanese forces murdered more than 300,000 Chinese citizens. They destroyed Chinese property. This event showed that Japan had the power. -
Germany and Italy sign the Pact of Steel
Germany and Italy agreed to a military and political alliance. The countries would assist others in war, and ensure that neither country would be able to make peace without an agreement. -
Germany Invades Poland, beginning World War ll
Germany invades Poland under Hitler's rule. Hitler did this because he wanted to expand Germany. He believed the Polish people were only fit as a work force. This event caused German aggression and triggered WWll. -
Germany, Italy, and Japan sign the Tripartite Pact
The Axis Powers (Germany, Japan, Italy) signed the Tripartite Pact. Japan and Italy become allies from signing this act. The act created defense allies between these countries. This event was created to deter the U.S. from entering the War.
