    The British army marched into Lexington and Concord with the inten to eliminate the possibility of rebellion by stealing weapons from colonists. this battle took a toll from both sides of the battle. For the colonist 49 were killed, 39 were injured, and five were missing, While for the British, 73 were killed, 174 were wounded, and 26 were missing.

    The American army was defeated at the Battle of Bunker Hill, but they left proof that they could hold their own against the grand British Army. This fight confirmed that reconciliation with England and the American colonies was now of the table. With the death count at 1,054 for British troops and 450 soldiers for the colonists.

    British General John Burgoyne launched an attack on New York, moving south from Canada with 7,500 soldiers. He captured Fort Ticonderoga though faced setbacks after losing soldiers at the Battle of Bennington. General Horatio Gates reinforced Bemis Heights and defeated Burgoyne at Freeman's Farm on September 19 But with no reinforcements coming, Burgoyne surrendered on October 17. This victory helped secure France’s alliance with the United States, leading to support in the War of Independence.
