Battle of Lexington
The Battle of Lexington was the very first battle of the Revolutionary War. It started when the British troops reached Lexington. When they arrived they met the colonists with muskets ready for a fight but when the British commander told them to lay down their weapons and leave, they left holding their weapons. Then when one British soldier fired, they all did leaving many bodies of the colonist on the ground. -
Concord
This was when the British men came from Boston in order to conquer Concord but when they got there , it was empty. But when they decided to just march back to Boston, about 3000-4000 men started shooting at the British from behind. The place was not empty, they were just hiding behind stone walls and trees in order to set an ambush. Do to that, they won this battle. -
Battle For Bunker Hill
The battle for Bunker Hill was one of the deadliest battles. This was when 2,400 British soldiers went up bunker hill. Before the colonist retreated, they waited for the last minute for when the British soldiers were near, to fire. That day, the colonist lost 450 men meanwhile the British soldiers suffered more then 1,000 casualties. -
Battle For New York
This was when the British attempted and succeeded to seize New York City. The British sailed to New York's harbor with 32,000 troops ready and armed. When they arrived, the Continental Army tried to defend them off but later treated because their men were untrained and poorly equipped. -
Battle For Trenton, New Jersey
This was when Washington led 2,500 men to Trenton, New Jersey. When they arrived, they soon defeated a garrison of Hessians in a surprise attack. But the British soon regrouped and captured the American capital at Philadelphia. -
Philadelphia
After the British all regrouped, they soon took over the Americans capital Philadelphia. -
Saratoga
Saratoga was one of the most important events of the revolutionary war because it was the place where the American troops finally surrendered. Soon after, France aided the Americans because of their belief that the Americans can win the war. Soon after that, France also signed an alliance with the Americans. -
Valley Forge
This was when Washington and the Continental Army were running low on food and supplies. They were fighting to survive the winter. When it was over, about soldiers died because of low supplies and because of the cold. -
Marquis de Lafayette
He was a military leader that helped the Americans become an elite military force. He trained the Continental Army. He helped lead a army in Virginia in the last days of the war. -
Yorktown
This is when and where the British finally surrendered, which ended the war. The whole world was shocked because the French and Americans have won the war. -
Treaty of Paris
This was when the delegates signed the treaty which set the Americans free. It gave the Americans independence and set boundaries of the new nation.
