  • Concord

    General Thomas Gage ordered troops from Boston to nearby Concord to seize illegal weapons in the spring of 1775. Paul Revere, William Dawes and Samuel Prescott spread word that 700 British troops were headed for Concord on the night of April 18,1775.
  • Lexington

    On April 19, 1775, there were 70 minutemen known as "redcoats", 8 were killed, 10 were wounded and one was injured. The first battle of the Revolutionary War was the Battle of Lexington and lasted only 15 minute.
  • Bunker Hill

    2400 British soldiers up the hill was sent by Gage on June 17, 1775; Colonist had lost 450 men while the British had suffered over 1000 casualties. The Battle of Bunker Hill that was misnamed would prove to be the deadliest battle of the war.
  • New York

    32000 soldiers were sent to New York from New England to steal their land in the summer of 1776. In late August, the Continental Army attempted to defend New York.
  • Trenton

    In 1776, Washington risked everything on bold stroke set for Christmas night. He led 2400 men in small rowboats across the ice-choked Delaware River. They then marched to Trenton, New Jersey and defeated a garrison of Hessian in a surprise attack.
  • Saratoga

    On October 17, 1777, American troops finally surrounded Burgoyne at Saratoga. The surrender turned out to be the most important events on the war.
  • Valley Forge

    In Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, while the people were desperately low on food ans supplies, they fought to stay alive at winter camp. More than 2000 soldiers died, yet the survivors didn't desert.
  • Marquis De Lafayette

    Marquis De Lafayette was a foreign military leader who arrived to offered their help. In 1779, Lafayette lobbied France for French reinforcements and led a command in Virginia in the last years of the war.
  • Philadelphia

    Robert Morris and Haym Salomon raised funds from Philadelphia Quakers and Jewish 1781. They begged and borrowed on their personal credit to raise the money to prove salaries for the Continental Army.
  • Yorktown

    In 1781, the British general decided to move the war to Virginia. He led his army of 7500 onto the Peninsula.
  • Treaty of Paris

    In September 1783, the US independence was confirm. Post war developments threaten the natives and began to take tribe lands unprotected by the Treaty of Paris.
