    Treaty of Paris

    Confirmed U.S. independence and set the boundaries the new nation. United States stretched from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River and from Canada to the Florida border.
  • 1781 BCE

    Yorktown

    The British general then chose to move the fight to Virginia. Plus Cornwallis planned to fortify Yorktown, take Virginia, and then move north to join Clinton's forces.
  • 1778 BCE

    Marquis De Lafayette

    American troops began an amazing transformation. A Prussian captain and talented drillmaster,helped to train the Continental Army.

    Philadelphia

    The British captured the American capital .

    Valley Forge

    Continental Army fought to stay alive at winter camp. More than 2,000 soldiers died.
  • 1776 BCE

    New York

    British attempted to New York City. And Continental Army attempted to defend New York in late August.

  • Lexington

    Soldiers sent a volley of shots into the departing militia. Here was the first battle of the Revolutionary War.

  • Concord

    Minutemen fired on the marching troops from behind walls and trees. Bloodied and humiliated, British soldiers made their way back to Boston.

  • Bunker Hill

    British general decided to strike at militiamen.The misnamed Battle would prove to be the deadliest battle of the war.

  • Trenton

    British had pushed Washington´s army. Then they marched to their objective and defeated a garrison of Hessians in a surprise attack.

  • Saratoga

    This was one of the most important events of the war. French signed an alliance with the Americans in February 1778 and openly joined them in their fight.
