The battle known for "The shot heard around the world".
Was the start of the American Revolution. The British tried to kill the leaders of the Patriots but the leaders were warned and all of the ammo was hidden. -
Paul Revere
Warned the Patriot leaders of the British troops coming for Lexington and Concord. He rode infront of the troops as fast as he could on horse and helped the Patriots significantly in this action. -
George Washington Named Commander in Cheif
Nominated by John Adams to lead the Continental Army to protect american liberty. He lost most of his battles at first because his army was ill trained and supplied. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The Continental Army built a dirt fort over night and didn't fire until they could see the whites of the British eyes to save ammo but still ran out and lost. The British suffered many casualties and lost confidence while the Patriots gained theirs. -

Thoughts on government
Published by John Adams to disperse authority and preserve liberty. It adopted the British whig theory of mixed government and adapted it to a republican society. It demanded a legislature (bicameral), executive, and judiciary branch. -
Virginia Declaration of Rights
A document passed in Virginia that claimed inherent rights of men including the right to rebel against government if it is hurting right or inadiquate. This was later used as inspiration for later documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. -
Battle of Long Island
Lord North ordered the Brittish soldiers to capture New York and the Hudson river to cut off New England. Washington's troops were nearly trapped, but retreated across the Hudson River to Brookland. -
Battle at Trenton
It was a month after the Declaration of Independence and the Patriots were losing so they decide to attack the British when their guard is down: Christams. They had to travel a long distance through snow and two even froze to death but still had a victory. -
Battle of Saratoga
Turning point of the war that gained the Continental Army support from the french. Howe took philidelphia, but the Continental Congress had already fled. The British led by Burgoyne were trapped and lost more than 5,000 troops. -
Valley Forge
There isn't enough food or supplies to go around in the winter so 3,000 soldiers die of starvationand disease (25%), 200 resign, and 1,000 desert leaving the Patriots with 8,000. -

Alliance between the United States and France. The US agreed to give the French the West Indies if the French Helped them gain independence. Neither one would be in peace until freedom, liberty and independence were acheived. -

A former General in New England that was brought to Valley Forge. Devised a way to get food for the soldiers by taking what ever he needed for the troops and giving letters to farmers promising they would pay them back later. -
Henry Clinton and the Philipsbourg Proclamation
Took Command of all British forces and Invaded Savanna Georgia to take Baltimore and Charleston and hurt the colonies trade. Created the Philipsbourg Proclamation wich gave protection to escaped slaves. -

Commanded the South Department for the Patriots and used to be the president of the board in war. -
Guerilla Tactics
American guerillas commanded by the "Swamp Fox" General Francis Marion won a series of small but feirce battles. Guerilla tactics surprised the British enemies because they typically engaged in Gentlemans war where they lined up and took turns shooting. -
The Articles of Confederation are Made
Formed by the idea that the Continental Congress should regulate trade, war, alliances, eyc, but never interfere with poliece of domestic concerns. Each state had one vote and 9/13 colonies had to approve of a new law. -

Was chosen to command southern forces on the British side. Took Kings Mountain and rivers leading to Charleston and fell for all of Nathaniel Greene's traps. Defeated on this Date. -
Battle of Yorktown
Last battle of the American revolutilon. The Continental Army dug trenches outside of the Brittish fortifications to take cover from redoutes and bombarded them for 6 days. Cornwallice surrendered through his second in command. -
Britain Repeals Prohibitory and Tea Acts
Britain repeals The acts in hopes the colonies will stop rebelling, but they continue because their goeal is not to remove taxes, but to gain representation which is still denied from them.
