  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This war began in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. Great britain gained land in North America due to the war. The war cost Great Britain a great amount of money so they began to tax the colonists. This eventually led to the American Revolution
  • Treaty of 1763

    Treaty of 1763
    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war. France gave up territory in North America for Great Britain. This ended the military threat to the colonists.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    At the end of the French and Indian war the British issued the Proclamation to make the Native Americans happy. This stated that the Europeans couldn't go on their land. Colonists couldn't go to the west of the Appalachian mountains and people who already lived to the West have to move.
  • Stamp Act

    This was an act against the colonist. This stated that the colonists had to have a stamp that then was taxed through mail. . Any legal document or anything sent through mail had to have a stamp.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    This event started as a fight between a colonist and a British soldier. It began to escalate and a riot started. The British soldiers fired on the colonists massacring them.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The colonists wanted to protest the British for taxing their tea imports. The colonists dumped hundreds of gallons of tea into the Boston Harbor. This angered the British and they closed the Boston ports.
  • Intolerable Acts

    These acts were laws to punish the colonist for the Boston Tea Party. One of the laws was to close the Boston ports so they couldn't trade.

    This was a book or pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. This was written to persuade the colonist to break away from great britain. He talked about how people deserve rights and no taxation without representation. He thought that all people were equal in the eyes of god.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    These battles is what started the American Revolution. The British army set out to Lexington to capture Samuel Adams and John Hemlock. They also wanted to destroy the Americans weapons and ammunition.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The British defeated the Americans in this battle. The British attack Bunker Hill to gain access to their seaports. It took the British 3 tires to take over Bunker Hill. The only reason the colonists lost was because they ran out of ammunition.
  • Declaration of Independence

    This was a document that the Americans wrote to declare independence from Great Britain. This was written by Thomas Jefferson.There were 3 major points, people have rights including life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, all men are created equal, and you have the right to defend yourself. There were 3 sections of the declaration of independence. the first was about natural rights, the second was about grievances and the last was the declaration of their independence from Great Britain.
  • Battle of Trenton

    Battle of Trenton
    Washington and his army crossed Delaware on Christmas day. They then within 10 days they won 2 battles in the American Revolution. The reason the colonists won this battle is because it was a surprise attack.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This fight included 2 battles, They were 18 days apart and was a victory for the Continental Army. This battle gave France the confidence to enter the war on the Americans behalf.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge
    General George Washington and 11,000 soldiers were stationed in valley forge during a harsh winter. Many troops tied from disease and the cold and many other troops fled to warmer places. George Washington never left, he stayed with his troops the whole winter.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This was a victory with the combined force of America and France. General Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington when French and American forces trapped them in Yorktown. The British surrendered ending the Revolutionary War.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    Battle of Cowpens
    This war was a good boost for the colonists, the British had lost irreplaceable people and led to the British surrender at Yorktown. This battle gave Americans confidence that they could win the war. Americans captured England's guns.
  • Treaty of Paris

    This treaty was signed by British and American representatives. This granted the US western territory. This was basically a peace treaty for the British and the US. The Us gained; British soldiers had to leave the US , fishing was allowed, and and property was returned to loyalists.
