Even though the name of this battle is Bunker Hill it actually took place on the hill right next to it called Breeds Hill. The british fought this battle because if the Americans stayed there they could see right over Boston where the British was so they could see everything they were doing and the British didnt like this so they fought for the hill. British retreat from Boston
This took place in Boston. This event isn't a battle but an important part in history. This was Washingtons first win in the war. The British had two chioces, stay and fight or retreat. They decided to retreat. The British did this becuase the Americans had cannons on a good spot to launch down on them. The Americans obviously won this "battle". This gave the thirteen colonies hope that they could defeat the British even more than they did there.
