    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was one of the most important battles in the US war for independence. The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought during the Siege of Boston. However, the British had won the battle and took control over the Charlestown peninsula. Despite the British’s victory, this battle was a moral builder for inexperienced Americans that patriotic dedication could over come a British Superior army.

    George Washington named commander and chief
    Washington was promoted the role of commander and chief of the continental army and was selected over other candidates such as John Hancock. His selection was based on his military experience and assumed command of the continental army on July 3 1775 in Cambridge. However, after 8 years of war he resigned his commission.

    Small pox originated in Central Africa from around 10,000 B.C. When George Washington took charge of the Continental Army he knew of the horrors of small pox as he was a surviver as well. Additionally, he realized the effect small pox could have on America's struggle for independence. Therefore, Washington considered inoculation to protect his soldiers from small pox.

    A proclamation was made by the British governor of Virginia by Lord Dunmore. The proclamation offered freedom to any male slave who rebelled against the Americans and entered the British lines. Therefore, over the course of the war thousands of African Americans will seek their freedom by joining the other side.

    Thomas Jefferson proposed the Declaration of Independence. Through the Declaration the Continental Congress and the 13 colonies Served their political connections with Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia. Additionally after declaring themselves as independent the American colonist was able to creat an alliance with France. They also maintained French assistance to fight Great Britain.

    Washington moves his troops to New Jersey on Christmas night. as a result they surprise a force of German troops which were allies fighting for Britain at Trenton on December 26 as well as a victory over British troops at Princeton on January3 and lastly settling for the winter at Morristown, New Jersey

    Battle of Princeton and Trenton
    After General George Washington crossed Delaware, over the course of the next ten days the continental army won two crucial battles. In the battle of Trenton defeated Garrison of Hessian. After this battle, one week later he returned to push Britain forces south. the through a daring night march they captured Princeton on January 3.

    In early 1777, Washington asked his commanding officers to "assist Regimental Surgeons as many Women of the Army to serve as Nurses and were paid the usual price. After the reorganization of the Continental Army medical staff, one hospital matron and ten nurses were placed for every hundred sick and wounded men. Nurses also introduced innovations to keep patients comfortable and help them recover including, stone hot water bottles, combination lamps and food warmers, fan chairs, etc.

    As the first season's snow fell on the Pennsylvania countryside, Washington and his troops prepared to move to a wooded plateau,Vally Forge, where plenty of tiber was widely available to build wooden huts for shelter during the long winter. However, due to the harsh winter the ill-fed fighting men were unfortunate and lacked everything (coats, hats, shirts, and shoes). Soldiers feet and legs turned black with frostbite and were often amputated and 2/3 of soldiers died.

    As a result of the patriots victory at Saratoga, representatives of the French and American governments signed the Treaty of Alliance and the Treaty of Amity and Commerce after several commissioners led by Benjamin Franklin negotiated an alliance with France. Additionally, Benjamin Franklin's popularity allowed French support for the American cause. Therefore, France gave their aid and support to America.

    The Continental Soldiers and Patriot Militia defeat a British force at Cowpens under the leader Banastre Tarleton. The Patriots were coming closer to victory at Kings Mountain. Additionally, cowpeas reassures the worried patriots that British southern strategy can be countered.

    The Battle of YorkTown
    General George Washington Continental Army and it’s Allie France surrounded the British southern army, under the command of General Charle of Cornwall. The encirclement at York Town forced Cornwallis to surrender and the US win their independence.
