Lexington and Concord
This battle was the first of the Revolutionary War. The British troops marched to concord to seize the militia men military arms. When the British attacked Paul Revere warned the rebels, and the rebels responded by moving most of their supplies and gathering their troops. When the British began to attack they first pushed through Lexington, but when they got to Concord they were forces to tatically retreat. The British officers in this battle were General Smith, And rebels had william dawes. -
Fort Ticonderoga
The battle of Fort Ticonderoga happened on May 10, 1775. The Rebel officers in this battle were Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen and the British officer was General Garrison. Benedict Arnold of Massachusetts met up with Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys in a dawn attack on the fort surprising the british and capturing the sleeping General Garrison. Although it was a small scale battle it was much needed for the rebels because they got lots of weapons they needed -
Bunker Hill
The Battle of Bunker Hill happened on June 17, 1775. The American officer was colonel Williams Prescott and the Britsh Officers were Major General William Hooke and Brigadier General Robert Pigot. This battle is called Bunker Hill but most of the fighting happened on Breeds Hill. The british won this battle but the rebels caused a lot of causalities for the British and boosted the morale for the rebel cause. -
Trenton
The Battle of Trenton was a surprise attack on the British on Christmas day. The american officer was General George Washington and the british officer was Colonel Rahl. Washington crossed the Delaware River on Christmas day and surprised the British army. This was a great win physically and morally for the americans. This win also helped get more Americans become soldiers in this war -
Sarotoga
The battle of Sarotoga began September 19 1777. The American officers were Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold and the British officer was General Burgoyne. The Americans in this battle start to go on the offensive instead of defensive and it works and it makes the British retreat to New York. But than Burgoyne goes for a second attack a month later and he fails and the Americans capture Sarotoga. -
Siege of Charleston
The Siege of Charleston happened on March 28, 1780. The American officer was General Benjamin Lincoln and the British officer was General Sir Henry Clinton. This was the Americans worst defeat in the revolution 3,000 patriots were captured leaving the British in full control of the south. But later Lincoln sill get his revenge. -
King's Mountain
The King's mountain battle was October 7, 1780. The American officer was colonel William Campbell and the British officer was Major Patrick Ferguson. Ferguson didnt give up and basically led a suicidal charge up the mountain the were met with a hail of bullets and many of the tories died. This was a very important battle because we got South Carolina back -
Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown began September 28th 1781. The American officer was General George Washington and the British officer was Lord Charles Cornwallis. General Washington had his troops block of Cornwallis route on Land and he had the French fleet block the British fleet so they could not go back to Britain. This ended the Revolutionary War and the British finally surrendered.
