    The Declaration of Independance
    The declaration of independence is approved in Philadelphia on July fourth, 1776. It was originally designed on July 2 1776, but the final version was not approved and when it was approved it was signed on August 2 1776. Fun Facts: 1) the vote was not unanimous like previously believed( New York didn't agree)
    2) The original copy of it was written by Thomas Jefferson.
    3) After Mr.Jefferson wrote it, it was then edited by 4 additional people, making the total amount of authors into 5.
  • Battle of Paoli / Paoli Massacre

    Battle of Paoli / Paoli Massacre
    The Paoli massacre was when the Red Coats killed the sleeping Continental Army soldiers. This took place on September 20th 1777 to September 21st 1777. It was fought around current day Malvern, Pennsylvania.Around the end of it nearly 200 Americans were killed or wounded. The Paoli Massacre became a rallying cry for the Americans against the many British atrocities for the rest of the Revolutionary War. This battle had caused the Continental army to gain even more of a reason to fight back.

    The Battle Of Saratoga
    On September 19th 1777, General John Burgoyne achieved an extremely costly victory over Continental forces .Even though his troop strength had been weakened, he again attacked the Americans at Bemis Heights on October 7th, but was forced to retreat. He surrendered ten days later. This victory lead the French to fight along side the Continental Army(against Great Britain). He should not have attacked with a weak army because the Continental Army had many soldiers ready to fight for them.

    The Continental Army enters its winter camp at Valley Forge and were met with many obstacles in their way. The winter of that year was un-bearably cold and it caused the deaths of many soldiers. The army also lost any men to a major defeat against the British. a few days after leaving the camp, stronger than ever, the Continental army wins a major battle against the British in New Jersey.

    The Treaty of Alliance with France was signed on February 6, 1778, creating an alliance between the 13 Colonies and France against Great Britain. In addition to the Treaty of Alliance, the Treaty of Amity and Commerce with France was signed on February 6, 1778, promoting trade and commercial ties between the two countries. This very treated decided the fate of the rest of the world because if it were not for the French, we would have lost some key victories that lead us to our independence.

    Benedict Arnold was an early war hero of the revolutionary war. He played many crucial parts in the early stages of the war such as: the capture of the British garrison of Fort Ticonderoga in 1775 and he played an important role in bringing about the surrender of British General John Burgoyne’s (1722-92) army at Saratoga. Around the year 1779 he started to talk with the British about handing over the colonies for money and a position in power. When he was caught doing this, he fled to Britain.

    The Siege of Yorktown
    The Siege or Battle of Yorktown was a battle that was fought in Virginia, that was comprised of the 13 colonies soldiers and the French soldiers. The French had sent in 17,000 troops to help fight along side the 9,000 continental army soldiers, against the British General Lord Charles Cornwallis. The battle lasted for around 22 days and was won by the Colonies and the French. It was the most important battle of the war.

    Samuel Adams, an American Patriot, was born on September 27, 1722(Boston,MA) and died on October 10, 1803(Cambridge,Ma). He was the son of a Boston Brewer and Merchant and after he failed in Brewing and in Newspaper Publishing, he found that his calling was truly in the world of politics.Samuel Adams took a leading role in The Boston Committee of Correspondence 1772 through 1774. He was among those who planned and coordinated Boston’s resistance to the Tea Act, which became the Boston Tea Party

    Thomas Paine was an English-born American political activist, philosopher, and political theorist. He was born on February 9, 1737, in Thetford, United Kingdom and died on June 8, 1809, in Greenwich Village, New York City, NY. He strongly believed in the independence of America and did not like the atrocities done by Great Britain. He created the first pamphlet to spread the idea of independence to others.

He became prince at the age of 12 after his father had passed. he was known as the mad king for his physical illnesses. He was also known to have had blue pee because of a very rare disease known as porphyria. This disease is known to cause you to have blue urine. He was also known as the Mad king for loosing America to his greed and high taxes.

    John Adams was an American statesman who served as the second president of the United States and the first vice president for George Washington. He was born on October 30, 1735, in Province of Massachusetts Bay and died on July 4, 1826, in Massachusetts. During the 1770s, he was a delegate to the Continental Congress(not yet the United States).He was for the Independence of America and served a 4 year term after George Washington(1797-1801).

    Marie-Joseph-Paul-Yves-Roch-Gilbert du Motier de La Fayette was born in an expansive chateau in Chavaniac, France, on September 6, 1757. He is a revolutionary war hero which is amazing considering that he came to America at only the age of 19, no battle experience and that he came over here because the King's younger brother persuaded him to do it. He played a very important role in the revolutionary war because he was at many major battles and he almost always stayed at George Washington side.
