Patrick Henry was added to to the house of Burggeses saying that King George lll wanted the house of Burgesses to pass the stamp act but these men: Thomas Pain, Samuel Adams, and Patrick Henry spoke against him, "If there be treason then make,the most of it!" Patrick Henry said King George lll was so mad that he sent all the members of the house of Burgsees home and told them that they could not meet again. -
The Stamp Act Congress-Emily
The Stamp Act Congress was formed by a man named James Otis. Otis came up with this wonderful idea to get all the colonies together and be heard by the king. They wanted the unfair taxes to stop and the colonies couldn't do this all by themselves so the got together. This was the first time that the colonies joined each other to fight for what they wanted. Boycotts helped secure the repeal of The Stamp Act. The Stamp Act Congress lead to the Stamp Act Resolves. -
The Townshend Acts
The Townshend acts happend in the year of 1767 and ended in 1770. The British added taxes to Paint, glass, lead, Paper, and imported tea. The british soldiers also went house to house taking taxes themselves to keep the british officials living. This upsetted the colonists very much and they started a big big war. The war was named after exchuer charles townshend. -

Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!" Speech-Jenna
The important people involved in this event are Patrick Henry, Lord Dunmore, and King George III and it occured at St.John's Church. The last line from Patrick Henry's speech was "I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!" After the famous speech, King George III ordered gunpowder in Williamsburg to be seized and stored in his ship. He did this to keep guns out of Patriot hands. Patrick Henry helped with the fight for freedom! -

The purpose of what these three men did was to warn the towns people the the British were coming. First they had to warn Addams and Hancock that the British were coming to arrest them. Then they had to go on to Lexington and Concord to prepare the militia. If they did not warn everyone, then there would be no war because they couldn't be prepared to fight, some people would have died, and the war would have been lost. -

The Battle of Yorktown- Hailey
The most important people involved in the battle of Yorktown were General George Washington, and Lord Charles Cornwallis. Lord Charles Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington as French and American forces trapped the British in Yorktown. When British surrendered, it ended the American Revolution War. The Continental Army, led by George Washington, won against the British, led by Lord Charles Cornwallis. -

The U.S.A. promised to restore the rights and property to Loyalists. Because some of these new citizens didn't follow this agreement, people fighting with G.B. fled. -

Shay's Rebellion was at the end of the revolotinary war. It was a series of protests between 1786 and 1787. By American farmers against state and local tax collection and judgement for debt. It was most serious in Massachusets. High taxes threatened farmers with loss of their farms. Some of the important people were Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock. -
