The Stamp Act was a small tax put on legal documents, and letters. The colonists protested the act by hanging fake people, and boycotting the products that Britain produced. The Stamp Act affected every social class between rich and poor. The colonists hated it so much that they rioted in the streets. This would be considered asymmetrical, because it was the patriots who were affected by it not the English. The colonists stopped buying the British goods, which caused the Stamp Act to be repealed.

    Boston Massacre ; Link:http://www.history.com/topics/american-revolution/boston-massacre
The tension of the Declaratory act caused the Boston Massacre. The patriots threw snowballs/rocks at the British, and the British shot a few shots back in return. It was not just things that were thrown at the British either, they also called them mean names. The event would be asymmetrical, because it was totally out of the ordinary, and the British were not expecting that big of a revolt with that many people participating in it. It was not common to do the things that the colonists did.

    Tea Tax ; http://www.bostonteapartyship.com/the-tea-act
The colonists hated the tea tax because, it affected everyone. It was really common to drink tea, its like everyone today drinking water. The high taxes on these goods caused the Boston Tea Party. Dumping the tea in harbor was an act of gesture politics. The British thought that the colonists would accept it because it was so cheap, but they did not accept it. This act would be considered asymmetrical, because it is so out of the normal. The British were so surprised by this reaction.

It was where the colonists and the British met for the first time to fight. An unidentified shot fired from the Patriot side, and a British soldier fell to the ground. No one told the troops to fire it was an all out war. This battle was the beginning of a blood feud. The soldier might have accidentally tripped on the gun and shot that bullet, but we may never know for sure. It would be asymmetrical, because the patriots started the battle non traditionally. It was every man for himself.

The colonialists lost the battle, because they did not have enough supplies and ran out of ammo. The British military then took over Bunker hill. This battle would be symmetrical, because it was a major battle, and it ended with the British winning a solid victory. The Patriots then retreated from the battle.

He wrote about that ordinary people could participate in the government. He wrote about Independence which was different and was not spoken of in other countries. The people were surprised about this book, but also very interested in it. A democracy, without a king, was unheard of. This event would definitely be asymmetrical, because the book speaks of every person having a voice in the government not just 1 ruler of the entire country. It helped the people think that they could win the war.
  • Declaration of Independence ; http://www.constitutionfacts.com/us-declaration-of-independence/read-the-declaration/

    Declaration of Independence ; http://www.constitutionfacts.com/us-declaration-of-independence/read-the-declaration/
This would be considered a declaration of war on Britain. Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams wrote this document. It could also be like a break up letter to Britain saying that i want to be by myself, i know how the world works. It was totally different than people were used to. It talked about everyone being equal, no matter their race, gender, or background. This event would be asymmetrical, because it was weird for people to comprehend during this time period and place.

Benedict Arnold helped secure the victory for the patriots. In the end, the British held up a white flag that meant that they were surrendering. All the British were held as captive prisoners from the battle. This would symmetrical, because the colonialists won the battle at Saratoga. They had great military guidance to help them win the battle.

Continental Army wintering at Valley Forge ; http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/valleyforge.htm
The conditions at Valley Forge were very poor. The health of the men was depleting, because it was under freezing temperatures. Most of the people had diseases, and it was spreading fast. The animals that the army brought with them were dying fast. The supplies were running so low that the troops didn't think that they could move on. This event would be symmetrical, because it is pretty common to have people die and get diseases when they fight in these poor of conditions.

    War in the South/ Charleston ; http://www.myrevolutionarywar.com/battles/800401-charleston/

Charleston was like the main city of the south, which had commercial and political center of the south. The British tried to turn slaves against their masters by offering protection if they joined the British army. The British would also put back wilderness loyalists in charge, who would get crazy and radical, and torture the patriots. This event would be asymmetrical, because the whole idea backfired.
