    Battle of Lexington & Concord
    The Battle of Lexington & Concord was known as "the shot heard around the world". This was because no one knows who fired the first shot. During this battle the British suffered extensive loss because the Americans used a war tactic that picked off a few British, then ran, picked a few more off, then ran. This resulted in the American victory. This was important to the Revolutionary war because this battle started the war off and was a very encouraging start for the Americans.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was fought on the Charlestown Peninsula on the north side of the Boston Harbour. The Americans constructed fortifications on the North, West, and South sides of Boston to prepare for the British but wasn't enough. The Battle ended in a British victory. This was important because the British suffered loss of troops and was a confidence boost to fight back.

    The Battle of Long Island was a battle in New York fought between Major- General William Howe led about 20,000 British and Hessian troops against General George Washington and 10,000 American Continental army men This battle resulted in a British victory. This was important because this was the first major battle after the Americans declared their independence July 4, 1776.

    The Battle of Trenton & Princeton was fought in both Trenton and Princeton New Jersey. During the war the Americans were driven out of New York and had to retreat to the West bank of Delaware. Then during the harsh winter weathers, they had to cross the Delaware river. Then they fought and came out with an important win to show that they could do it and fight through the tough times.

    The Battle of Saratoga was fought fought on the Hudson River in New York State. There were 5,000 British soldiers vs. 12,000 to 14,000 Americans. This Battle ended in a American victory. This was important because this battle was the turning point in the Revolutionary War. Also that France was on George Washington and the Continental Army's side and would strengthen and provide supplies and support.

    The Battle of Viennese or also known as the Siege of Fort Sackville was fought in Vinnecces Indiana. It was fought between George Rogers Clark and the Militia led Americans against the British garrison led by Lieutenant Governor Henry Hamilton. It is known as Fort Sackville because the Americans built timber fortifications and walls. There were not a lot of soldiers fighting but this battle ended in an american victory. This was important because this boosted the confidence of the Americans.

    Battle of Bohomme Richard vs.Serapis
    The Battle of Bohomme Richard vs.Serapis was a naval battle where John Paul Jones, the captain of the Bohomme Richard(French/American), sailed around the British Isles and engaged with the Serapis, a British naval boat. After the Bohomme Richard took considerable damage, the French/Americans fought for three more hours and convinced the Serapis and the British to surrender. This American victory was important because this showed that the French were on the Americans side of the war.

    The Battle of Charleston or also known as Siege of Charleston was fought in Charleston South Carolina. The British largely outnumbered the Americans. The British trapped the Americans and kept closing in on them, they even burnt down Charleston. On May 12, the Americans finally surrendered and the British won the Battle. This wasn't very important because the Americans suffered significant loss.

    The Battle of Guilford Courthouse was fought in North Carolina which was fought between Major-General Lord Cornwallis and Major-General Nathaniel Greene. There were 1,900 British troops against 4,400 American troops. This war ended in a British victory. However this was important because the British suffered significant troop losses during the battle.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    The battle of Yorktown was fought in Yorktown, Virginia. It was fought against about 9,000 Americans and 8,000 French vs. 9,000 British and German mercenaries. Almost 8,500 British soldiers were either killed, wounded, and missing/capture whereas the Americans only suffered about 500 losses. The war was virtually over which is important because the British army was decimated.
