  • Concord

    After what occured in lexington the Brits marched up to Concord. There they found an empty arsenal. While this was going colonist were organizing an army of 3,000 to 4,000 minutemen to confront the brits. They were successful. Colonist had Boston for themselves now.
  • Lexington

    700 brits marched up to lexington which is 5 miles away from Concord. The Brits were challenged by 70 minutemen. The battle only lasted 15 min.

  • Bunker Hill

    Thomas Gage, a general in the British army, decided to attack the colonist army that were posted at Bunker Hill. This battle went down in history as the deadliest battle in the Revolutionary War. 450 Americans were killed while 1,000 brits were killed.
  • New York

    Britain has a plan to stop the rebellion and this plan involved capturing New York. The inferior colonist ended up retreating. By late fall Brits were entering Pennsylvania
  • Trenton

    George Washington lead his army to a victory in Trenton, New Jesey. The Brits lost a lot of lives there while colonist lost very little.
  • Philadelphia

    Brits take hold of Philadelphia: the capital of the colonies.
  • Saratoga

    General John Buroyne lead his troops into surrendering to the colonist. This made france realize that Americans might win this war. So France signed an alliance with Americans in 1778.
  • Valley Forge

    George Washington and his army struggle to survive, they have limited food and supplies. The men’s endurance inspires Washington.
  • Marquis De Lafayette

    Marquis and other military leaders offered assistance in training and leading the continental army. In time the army proved to be effective. 1778
  • Yorktown

    French and American troops surround brits and bombard them for over a month until the finally surrender. Americans shocked the entire world with their victory.
  • Treaty of Paris

    American delegates sign the Treaty of Paris which confirmed the US independence and showed the country's boundaries.
