The first battle between the Patriots and the British. This battle is the one that started the Revolutionary War. -

The contenintal congress meets again to discuss how they are going to handle the British. The Decleration of Independence is written and adopted. -
Fort Ticonderoga
A British fort with 48 soldiers stationed inside. Ethan Allen, Benedict Arnold, and the Green Mountain Boys took over the fort with ease. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The patriots fought of many waves of the British soldiers, causing many casualtiies, but still lost this battle. Although they lost the battle it sparked to believe that they actually stood a chance against the
Redocats. -

This book persuades and convinces the colonists to want freedom from Britian and join the revolution. It is written by Thomas Paine. -
Decleration of Independence
Written by Thomas Jefferson, this document was finally adopted by the colonies and the Britsh acknowledged their desire for independence, but instead of allowing it they went to war. -
Battle of Long Island
Washington and his army are defeated by the British and flee to Manhattan. General Howe then attacked them, and Howe took control of New York. -
1st Battle of Trenton
Washington and his army snuck up on 1,000 Hessian soldiers on Christmas night and took them captive. Morale boost for the patriots during these hard times. -
Second Battle of Trenton
Washington's soldiers snuck up at night and surrounded the British army that had stoppped advancong for the night. Washington circled behind them and forced them to retreat out of New Jersey. -
British retake Ticonderoga
After the patriots abandoned the fort the British retook their previous fort to gaina strategic position. -
Battle of Saratoga
Burgyone is the British General and Benidict Arnold os the patriot leader. Arnold breaks standard fighting protocol and begins to use guerilla warfare instead of lining up and taking shots. Patriots win and Burygone surrenders. -
Articles of Confederation
Adopted in 1777 by American congress. Set up basic guidelines for after the war and a basic set of laws. It turned out to be a complete flop and a huge failure but it was the best that they ahd at the time. -
Valley Forge
Washington's army settles down in Valley Forge for the winter, 1,000 soldiers die to harsh weather and disease, and 200 officers also abandon him. The soldiers that remain have little supplies and re in dire straits. -
Henry Clinton
Henry Clinton took over the British army after General Howe retired. -
Treaty of Alliance
The French finally agreed to help the Americans fight the British in the war. It was a major turning point in the war for it gave some reinforcements for the worn out patriot soldiers. -
Spain Enters
Spain enters the war in order to gain a portion of Florida, and they sent of fleet of ships to drive British naval units north. -
Battle at Savannah
British soldiers take over a fort in Savannah to try and destroy the cash crops in Georgia and destroy the colonists economy. -
Phillipsburg Proclomation
This document claimed that any slaves or indentured servant that fought for the British would be set free after the war. 1/3 of the population in the colonies were slaves. -
Battle at Springfield
The British's advance is cut off at Conneticut Farms and Springfield and the fighting in the north slows down tremendously. -
French Reinforcements
The French send backup to assist the British in Rhode Island, and later they help surround New York. -
Commander Greene
Greene is appointed the commander of the southern patriot army. -
Guliford Courthouse
The Patriots suffered a loss but the British lose very many men and precious ammo. -
Battle at Yorktown
General Cornwallis is surrounded by the PAtriots and French and is forced to surrender. This is the ending battle of the war. -
Articles of Peace
Calls for peace between the patriots and the british and the immediate evacuation of all british troops. -
Treaty of Paris 1783
Treaty between Britian and America and said that Britian must recognize America has a free and independent country. -
The Constitution
The U.S. Constituiton was written and adopted in the government and is still in effect today, comstantly being chnaged and most of the times ignored by our government.
