The crossing of the Delaware
After a series of defeats near New York. Washington decided to surprise attack the British in Trenton, New Jersey. Washington crossed the icy Delaware River and defeated the British who had the German on their side. -
The Battle of Saratoga
A U.S. win here due to the conditions of the forests in NY. Allowed Ben Franklin to convince the French to become our allies. -
Valley Forge
The U.S. Army is camped at Valley Forge. Baron Von Stueben trains the army. Lack of food and disease kill 2500 U.S. soldiers. -
The Battle of Yorktown
This battle signified the end of the war. The official surrender took place on Oct. 19, 1781 after the French Navy blocked the harbour in Yorktown VA. The Americans also landlocked th Brits. -
Treaty of Paris
Officialy signed document ending the war. The results were that the U.S. became indapendent. Britain could no longer control any land or government in the U.S. It also expanded the U.S.
