Lexington & Concord
The American minutemen won the battle even after the British pushed them back to Concord and they were out numbered by a lot. The significance of Lexington and Concord is that it was the first battle between the British and partiots. -
Bunker Hill
The battle took place on the Charlestown Peninsula on the north side of the Boston Harbor. The British won the battle. The Colonists were out numbered 2,400 to 1,500. The British were surrounded. The British won because the patriots ran out of supplies. -
Dorchester Heights
Not a shot was fired in this battle. General Washington had his troops weren't armed set up cannons pointing at british camps in the city while the soldiers that were armed fired into the west side of the city. The British General Howe was shocked to see how much the Continentals did in one night but it actually took two nights. General Howe was going to fight the Continentals but it the end he left Boston and took his troops to New York and some of Canada. -
Declaration of Independence
The Patriots or to become patriots sent a letter to England declaring independence. -
Battle of Long Island
The winner of this battle is the British, they drove the American's out of Brooklyn and forced them to evacuate from New York. It was a major city and harbor. -
The Battle of Trenton
After being driven out of New York by the British, Washington and his troops won the battle of Trenton The crossed the Deleware river even though the winter was harsh and they beat the British. The win of this battle was a huge boost of courage for the Patriots. -
The Battle of Princeton
The American's outmanoeuvred the British. The American's escaped Cornwallis' encircling move. The American's had 7,000 and the British had 8,000. This also was a big boost for the Patriots. -
The Battle of Brandywine Creek
The British and Hessians were left on the field after they drove the American's out of their place on the Brandywine Creek. The British were outnumbered in this one, the British had 6,000 and they American's had 8,000. -
Battle of Saratoga
The winner of this battle are the American's, they made the British surrender. the British were way outnumbered, there was 12,000-14,000 american's and the British only had 5,000. The British also had the German's on their side. -
Valley Forge
The Continental Army came to Valley Forge after some tough battles against the British. Since the early fall the General had trouble's getting the supplies for the men that they needed. As winter came around the problems just became worse. The soldiers were getting an irregular amount of meat and bread. It forced them to go out and find their own food in the forest or at farms that they have passed by, if they could. Clothing was a problem as well. A disease called pneumonia killed 2,000 men. -
Yorktown
In the Battle of Yorktown the the Americans were joined by the French, and marched into Yorktown. General Cornwallis lead the british troops. Expecting the americans and French by sea Cornwallis waited. When the American and French troops marched in they surprised the British, and winning the controversial battle. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783, ended the American revolution, with their Allies. It eneded the French and Spanish battles as well, and they both had seperate agreements. The Americans got what they wanted and the boundaries of the United States were enlarged aswell.
