Lexington and Concord
Winner: Patriots
Significance: This was the first battle and the start of the Revolutionary War. The British had planned to take supplies from the colonists. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Winner: British
Importance: The importance is that they inflicted similar casualities agianst the enemy. -
Battle of Dorchester Heights
Winner: Patriots
Importance: The Patriots lined up all of their British cannons that they took from a fort after capturing it. They lined them up on the hill with a bunch of soldiers. They realized that they couldn't win and retreated away. -
The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence states the reasons why the Patriots are breaking away from England. -
Battle of Long Island (Battle of Brooklyn)
Winner: British
The British recieved control and drove the Patriots out of New York. -
Battle of Trenton
Winner: Patriots
The victory was the first and helpd restore the confidence. This battle kept the hope up for the Patriots. -
Battle of Princeton
Winner: Patriots
They forced the British to withdraw on New Brunswick. This battle kept the hopes up for the Patriots. -
Battle of Brandywine
Winner: British
The British blocked the Patriot's way to Philidelphia. They also end up taking over Philidelphia. (The Patriots lose control of it) It also takes the "capitol". -
Battle of Saratoga
Winner: Patriots
This was the turning point and restored the hopes. The Patriots forced the British to surrender. -
Valley Forge
Valley Forge was where the Patriots trained and were at over the Winter. Even though the conditions were terrible they still trained. It helped them because they were ready for any of the harsh weather problems during battles. -
Battle of Yorktown
Significance: The French greatly aided them in this battle. The British surrendered.
Winner: Patriots -
The Treaty of Paris
This was a peace treaty between the British and Patriots. This ended the war and America got their independence.
