United States and France sign the French Alliance. The treaty promised militia support if one another was attacked by the British. -

Spain declares war on Great Britain. Spain wants to help America. Also, Great Britain threatened Spain and disrespected their king. -

British captures and takes over Charlestown from the Americans. Major General, Benjamin Lincoln, and his army surrendor forces numbering about 5,000 to the British. -
Articles of Confederation
Articles of Confederation was adopted. An agreement of the 13 states that officialy determined that the United States of America as a confederation and served as its first constitution. -
Lord North
Lord North resigns as British prime minister. He said he knew something wasnt going to go right and he didn't want to be held responsible. Ten years later Lord North died in 1793. -
Articles of Peace
British and the Americans come to an agreement and sign the Articles of Peace. The article agreed for the government of Britain and the government of America to treat eachother with peace. -
Treaty of Paris
The United States and Great Britain sign the Treaty of Paris. It ends the revolutionary war between Britain and America. Its most faous for being "exceedingly generous" to the United States of America in terms of enlarged boundaries. (thats my quote for the project) -

George Washington decides to resign as the commandor. After the war was over he felt like he had done his job and there was no need to go on. -
