Benedict Arnold: His Time of Importence
Most people remember him as a traitor. But he was much more than that. He was a brilliant American General, one that won many victories for the Patriots. This timespan goes from when he helped take Fort Ticonderoga to when his plans of betrayal were discovered and he fled to the British. -

George Washington: His Time of Importance
George Washington was the commander of the Continental Army, and a better commander could not have been found. He was the one who lead the Battle of Trenton, and helped formulate the British defeat at the Battle of Yorktown. This timespan goes from when he was appointed commander of the Patriot army, over a year before the war, to the Battle of Yorktown. -
The Battle of "Bunker Hill"
The Battle of Bunker Hill is famous in many ways. It is where the British drove off the Yankees. It is where they encountered heavy casualties. It was also fought on Breeds Hill, not the nearby Bunker Hill.

Battle of Trenton
On the morning after Christmas, General Wasington crossed the Delaware River at 1:00 in the morning to make a surprise attack against German mercenarys, called Hessians. All were captured or killed. This became famous as Washington's Crossing. Pic from: britishbattles.com -
The American Flag

The Battle of Saratoga
British Generals had come up eith a plan to seperate the colonies. They would take several cities, cutting the Patriots in two. However, General Howe decided to capture Philadelphia. However, he camped there for the winter, leaving the 2 reamaning generals to themselves. One of the 2, St. Leger, was stopped by Benedict Arnold. The last one, Burgoyne, reatreted to Saratoga. There he was deafeted by Gates and Arnold. This is often seen as the turning point in the war. Pic from: allposters.com -
Winter at Valley Forge
George Washington, when he had to hunker down for the winter, chose Valley Forge as their place of rest. It was nearly their permanent resting place. They lacked food, clothing, blankets and everything else needed for winter in the elements. Baron von Steuben, a German former general, trained the solders how to be effictive solders. The French Alliance

Nathaniel Greene Becomes Commander of the Southern Army

The Battle of Cowpens
When General Cornwallis ordered an officer to try and protect a fort, he made a grave mistake. The officer followed half of Greene's forces and engaged them at the place that would become known as Cowpens. Over 800 of Cornwallis' solders were captured or killed, while only a 130 of Patriots were done the same. Pic from: allenscreations.com -
The Battle of Guilford Courthouse
General Cornwallis decided to engage with Greene's troops one more time, and this time with an army that was half of Greene's. It looked like it would be another Patriot victory, but then British cannons fired into the horde of solders, of both sides. The Britsh won, but had many losses. Pic from: bill.ballpaul.net -
The Battle of Yorktown
French and American forces marched together toward Yorktown where General Corwallis waited. A great siege took place, lasting 11 days. After that, Cornwallis was forced to surrender. This was the final great battle of the American Revolution. Pic from:en.wikipedia.org -

The Treaty of Paris
