Lexington and Concord
A British general sent redcoats to Concord because he was told that the colonists were storing weapons there. A shot was fired but it is unclear which side fired first. This was the first official win for the colonists. -
Bunker Hill
The battle of Bunker hill began with 2000 British redcoats attacking up the hill. The colonial militiamen were told not to fire until they "saw the whites of their eyes." The battle ended with the British winning. -
The Siege of Boston
The colonists only had enough gunpowder for each person to fire 9 times. The British woke up to find Boston surrounded by the colonist's cannons. The British ended up abandoning the city because they didn't want a bloody fight. -
New York
This battle happened because both the British and the Americans wanted control of the city. The fighting lasted only 2 days with the Americans losing more people than the British. The Americans eventually retreated and lost hope. -
Trenton
The Americans ambushed the Hessians late on Christmas while the Hessians were drunk and partying. The Hessians surrendered without losing even a single person. -

Valley Forge
The Continental Army spent the winter in Valley forge, the winters were brutal. Several soldiers died of starvation and disease. After the winter they started looking for some new training. -

While the British were leaving Philadelphia, the Americans followed them the whole way to Monmouth NJ. This battle took place on June, 6th, 1778, Washington was able to get his troops to push the British back across the Hudson to NYC. -

Yorktown
George Washing secretly moved his entire army to Virginia. Some French war ships showed up to block off the harbor, this stopped the British from leaving Yorktown. After the trap began the Continental Army and the French started attacking the town, the fighting lasted for a couple of days. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was created in order to formally end the war. The most important thing that was stated in this was that England had to recognize America as a country. -
