54th Massachusetts Infantry
active from 1863 to 1865. the were the first black infantry. They fought at fort Wagner, but lost many lives including their commander. -
13th Amendment
this amendment banned slavery in the united states. it stated that slavery couild only be used as a punishment. -
14th Amendment
this Amendment gave equal rights to american citizens accept for Native Americans. -
15th Amendment
prohibbited the goverment from not letting people vote because of their skin tone. Blacks weren't really getting thede rights till 1965.
