A Patriot Army of only 150 soldiers led by Virginian George Rogers Clark captures several British posts in the Ohio Territory, which is in modern day Illinois and Indiana. Even though Natives continue to resist against west movement from the Colonists, it's still impressive. -

France started giving military aid to the US. The declared war, and made a "pact" where neither would declare their war on Britain over until the US was recognized as its own country -
Charleston Falls to the British
The Patriots suffer their worst defeat yet, losing Charleston and a decent sized portion of their army. -
South Carolina Victory brings back hope to the Patriots
At Kings Mountain, South Carolina, the Patriots defeated Loyalists under Major Patrick Ferguson, bringing back hope to the Patriots they lost from Charleston. -
Large British army surrenders at Yorktown
One of the more monumental/well known victories from the Patriots, they slowly force the British army into surrendering by surrounding them and cutting off the British from sending supplies via water or land. -

At the Guilford Courthouse, the British troops win a battle against General Nathanael Greene's army. His hit-and-run tactic seemed to work, as the British lost near a quarter of their troops. -
