The war virtually came to an end when General Cornwallis was surrounded and forced to surrender the British position at Yorktown, Virginia.

    The French Revolution was a period of time in France when the people overthrew the monarchy and took control of the government. The revolution came to an end 1799 when a general named Napoleon overthrew the revolutionary government and established the French Consulate (with Napoleon as leader).The result of the French Revolution was the end of the monarchy. King Louis XVI was executed in 1793. The revolution ended when Napoleon Bonaparte took power in November 1799.
