  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The British parliament passed the Townshend Acts which imposed taxes on common products imported to the Colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

  • Townshend Acts

    The Townshend Acts were repealed.
  • The Hutchinson Letters Affair

    Letters written by Massachusetts Governor Thomas Hutchinson were published in a Boston newspaper saying freedoms were going to be taken away by Britain.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonist dressed as Mohawk Indians dumped 300 chests of tea from the East India Company into the sea at Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Parliament passed four laws, the Intolerable Acts, that were harsh laws that stripped Massachusetts off of its power to govern itself and of judicial independence.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The first American Revolution between British soldiers and the Minutemen.
  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The first major battle in the American Revolutionary War. The British won the battle because they had more ammunition and experience in fighting.
  • George Washington

    George Washington was appointed the commander in chief of the Continental Army by the Continental Congress.
  • France aids Continental Army

    France started to give secret aids to the Continental Army.
  • Battle of Trenton

    A small but vital war for the Americans. George Washington and his army defeated the Hessian soldiers at Trenton.
  • Battle of Capes

    War fought between the French and Britain. The French won and that denied the British troops evacuation and reinforcements.
  • End of the Siege of Yorktown

    The battle against the French and the Americans and the British ended. The battle ended with Cornwallis' surrender and the start of peace negotiations between the warning parties.
  • Peace Negotiations

    The British Parliament gave peace negotiations the nod.
  • Treaty of Peace

    The date of the signing of the Treaty of Peace in Paris ended the American Revolutionary War.
