  • Battle of the Alamo start

    Texas forces with famous individuals likes James Bowie, William Travis, & David Crockett, defended the Alamo mission from general Santa Anna's army. Unfortunately everyone died.

  • Texas Declaration of Independence

    At the Convention of 1836 at Washington-on-the-Brazos, the Texas Declaration of independence was signed, creating the Republic of Texas.

  • Battle of the Alamo Ends

  • Goliad Massacre

    After the Battle of Coleto, Colonel James Fannin and his troops were executed by Stanta Anna's Mexican army.

  • Battle of San Jacinto

    Santa Anna suffered a major defeat and was captured by General Sam Houston and his Texan forces, ending the Texas Revolution.

    Sam Houston becomes the first President of the Republic of Texas and tries to stabilize the new country.

  • U.S. Acknowledges the Republic of Texas

    The United States officially recognized Texas as an independent nation.

  • Council House Fight

    Negotiations between Comanche chiefs and Texan officials break down and many Comanche leaders are killed.

    Texan forces defeat a large Comanche war party near Lockhart, Texas.

  • Sam Houston Re-Elected

    Sam Houston is re-elected and focuses on trying to re-establish peace with the native tribes and solve their accrued debt.

    Two failed attempts to reclaim Texas were performed by Mexico.

  • Battle of Salado Creek

    Texas forces repel a Mexican invasion around San Antonio.

  • Battle of Mier

    Texas forces attempt to invade Mexico and are captured, failing. Seventeen soldiers were executed by lottery. This was known as the "Black Bean Episode". Primary Document: Texas Independence Trail Region.
  • Annexation of Texas by the United States & End of the Texas Republic

    The Texas Republic is Annexed by the United States becoming the 28th state.
