  • Battle of the Alamo

    Mexican forces under Santa Anna attacked the Alamo mission. They sieged the Alamo for 13 days before attacking it. Texans defended the Alamo and all ended up dead. This is located in San Antonio and the battle lasted until March 6th of 1836. This became a famous battle and served as fuel for the revolution. The phrase "remember the alamo" was seen as a battle cry for the revolution. (Campbell, 2004)
  • Goliad Massacare

    350 Texan prisoners were murdered by Mexican forces. This became a calling for the Texas revolution. (Campbell, 2004)
  • Battle of San Jacito

    The Texas army defeats the Mexican forces and Santa Anna gets captured. This leads to Texas gaining independence. (Campbell, 2004)
  • Treaties of Velasco

    A treaty is signed by Santa Anna which gives Texas their independence.
  • Sam Houston elected as first President

    Sam Houston was elected as the first president of the new republic of Texas. His main goal was to establish Texas' independence and to keep relations with Mexico good. He served until 1837. (Campbell, 2004)
  • Texas is recognized by the United States

    The United State recognizes Texas as an independent nation.
  • Mirabeau B. Lamar's presidency

    Lamar was the successor to Houston. His policy aimed to expand Texas' land by taking land from Mexico and Native Americans. He was generally more aggressive toward Mexico. (Campbell, 2004)
  • Battle of Salado Creek

    It was a battle between Texas forces and Mexican forces. The goal of this campaign was to secure Texas' border. This happened under Lamar's presidency. (Campbell, 2004)
  • Treaty of Tehuacana

    Texas signed a treaty between them and several native American tribes to ensure peace.
  • Texas becomes a State

    Texas is admitted to the United States as the 28th State
